Bulgaria Ski Federation
The Bulgaria Ski Federation is one of the oldest sport organizations in Bulgaria. Established in 1924 in the capital Sofia, th federation supports the skiing sport and especially the competition section (at national and international levels). It has been the only Bulgarian organization member of FIS (Fédération International de Ski) since 1932. There are 56 member clubs of the federation with a total of 990 athletes. Tzeko Minev has been the President of the federation since 2003.
Between 2009 and 2015 the Bulgaria Ski Federation hosted 5 Alpine Skiing World Cups and many European Cups. Over the years the athletes of the federation have left their mark in the history of skiing. Its main achievements in alpine skiing are: World Cup Round Win 1979; World Junior Champion 1977, 1978, 1988;
Currently the rising star of Bulgarian alpine skiing is Albert Popov. He is only 18 years old and already has many excellent classifications at international events. He won the Topolino Cup (unofficial world cup for kids) and is Bulgarian national champion in slalom. In 2015 Albert took 2nd place at the European Youth Olympic Festival.
